Using a Public Health Approach to Promote Children’s Safety and Well-being (June 2009)

The Seminar was jointly hosted by the Scottish Child Care and Protection Network (SCCPN) and CLiCP.  In the seminar, Professor Dorothy Scott drew on comparative data on child protection systems in Australia and in other English speaking countries and discussed the implications of adopting a public health approach to child protection.

Learning from review of child deaths and serious abuse cases in the UK (March 2009)

The safeguarding and protection of children has been the subject of intense media and political debate in recent weeks and there has been much discussion around the effectiveness of review processes. Speakers included academics and professionals who have been involved in analysing the findings from review of child deaths and serious abuse cases in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

    Launch of the Centre (November 2007)

    On 26th November 2007, a reception was held to celebrate the launch of Centre. Among the speakers were Dame Mary Marsh (Director and Chief Executive, NSPCC), Professor Vicki Bruce (Vice-Principal and Head of the College of Humanities and Social Science, The University of Edinburgh) and Maureen Watt (MSP, The Scottish Parliament).
